Friday Fives | Pulitzer Prize Winners/Nominees to Read

I started #FridayFavorites back when I started up the blog again and wanted to make sure I kept at least one regular post a week. This was, of course, before I knew there were others out there. But I decided to keep it, especially since I have the whole year planned out. In December, I decided to change it to #FridayFives instead to have more room for topics. If anyone wants to join me, the list for future topics can be found here.

Today’s topic is Pulitzer books from the last 2 years that I would like to read. These are a mix of both winners and nominees from the fiction and poetry categories.

“An artful novel that chronicles a mother’s search for her estranged daughter against the backdrop of the AIDS crisis, and contemplates the ripples of grief affecting generations of survivors.”

From the Pulitzer Prize website.

Finalist 2019

“A masterful and beautifully rendered allegory of the destructive force of social ambition on several generations of a Pennsylvania family.”

From the Pulitzer Prize website.

Finalist 2020

“A collection of masterful lyrics that combine delicacy with historical urgency in their loving evocation of bodies vulnerable to hostility and violence.”

From the Pulitzer Prize website.

Winner 2020

“A spare and devastating exploration of abuse at a reform school in Jim Crow-era Florida that is ultimately a powerful tale of human perseverance, dignity and redemption.”

From the Pulitzer Prize website.

Winner 2020

“A compassionate debut that, through 12 Native American narrators making their way to a California powwow, offers a chorus of voices struggling with questions of identity and authenticity.”

From the Pulitzer Prize website.

Finalist 2019

Happy Reading, Darlings!
