I was just talking to my dad this morning about making my new gumball TBR machine with books I own and haven’t read, so listing series that I want to finish is apropos. There’s always an ebb and flow with series for me. I get into ruts where I can’t touch another series and just want a story that is contained in one book. Then I’ll want a book where I can really get to know the characters and go back to series. Repeat ad nauseam.
Part of not catching up with this series is life getting away from me. The other part is that I first read this as a library book not realizing that it’s a series.
I work at a library. I’ve checked out this one from the library I work at, and the second one is downstairs ready to be checked out. Why haven’t I checked it out? Who knows? I am a mystery.
I just know that the second one is going to put the characters through a lot before it gets better, and I need to prepare myself for this!
This is another one of those library books I checked out and just haven’t picked up the second one. Now that I think about it, I’m pretty sure I bought the second one at my town’s annual library book sale.
I remember first hearing about this book and being so excited to read it! As the usual story goes with me, I read the first one and haven’t made it to the others yet.
When I first heard about this book and started reading it, I had no idea it was a series. So, am I really to blame? When I finished it, I was in a stage of life where I wanted to read series when all of them were out. I now own all three books, so I can re-read the first one and then finish the series (hopefully, before the end of the year).

Long Way to a Small Angry Planet is a series I should have included on my list of ones I want to continue with. I’ve really enjoyed it so far and I’m one book behind. These Violent Delights has a gorgeous cover, I’m intrigued.
Same with Long Way to a Small Angry Planet. I loved the first book and adore Becky Chambers, so I really need to read the rest of that series.
A gumball TBR machine?! This sounds absolutely delightful! I really enjoyed Children of Blood and Bone, but heard the next book just wasn’t as good, so I’ve been reluctant to continue. Hope you get a chance to read these soon!

I’m enjoying the Barnes series as well. I still need to read the last one. The tough part is remembering who’s who and what’s what from the previous book. I actually re-read the first one before reading the second one because I just couldn’t remember! I don’t want to re-read the second one (which I didn’t like nearly as much as the first), so hopefully I remember enough not to be TOO lost. LOL. I hope you enjoy the rest of the series!
