Friday Fives | Dedications

I started Friday Fives back when I started up the blog again and wanted to make sure I kept at least one regular post a week. This was, of course, before I knew there were others out there. But I decided to keep it, especially since I have the whole year planned out.

When I read a book, I’m that person that reads the entire book, literally cover to cover. And one of the things I love to see is a good dedication. These dedications can be sweet, funny, meaningful, mostly, they just have to get me to pause before turning the page to the actual book.

To the girls who took me in when the boys kicked me out

There’s a house in the woods

with an Arthurian table and a

never ending charcuterie board.

This story is for those

I’ve sat with at that table,

who make writing feel

like magic.

for the weirdos & the dreamers

To myself, because I deserve it

And to my parents, who always saw me reading doorstopper fantasy novels and knew it was only a matter of time until I wrote one thick enough to brain a man.

To all the obstinate, headstrong girls forging new paths.
