Books that Should Have an Adaptation

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly topic hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week she provides a topic, and you are free to use that topic and/or variations of that topic to make your top ten list. A full list of the weekly themes can be found here.

This week’s topic is on movies or shows that would make great books. But I am having a difficult time coming up with movies or shows that aren’t already based on books. Instead, I’m going to list books that I want to have an adaptation.

Yes, obviously, this would probably be included in the Shadow and Bone show, but since it’s been cancelled, I’m going to include it. I need to see the relationship between Nikolai and Zoya develop, as well as let Zoya (Sujaya Dasgupta) have more screen time.

I’m in desperate need to see the house and how all the mushrooms works. Like I have an idea in my mind, but this could have such an amazing set and costumes!!

The amount of love I have for this book…gah!!! Audrey and Thomas give me so much life, and I love to see these book series as a TV show.

One of my favorite books of the year!! I would love to see a movie or show with three Black main characters. Plus I’m always down for a story featuring a library in any fashion.

This has already been optioned for a movie, but we all know those can take ages. So for now, I’m still going to include it. The fae world would be so lush and vibrant, plus I need to see Jude and Cardan’s relationship development.

I’d absolutely love to have a show with Juliet Tilney and Jonathan Darcy. These two are so adorable that I cannot handle it, their friendship and romance are both well-written and beautiful.

  1. SJTR would make such a great tv show, I agree! Give us 4 seasons and cast Audrey Rose and Thomas and we are good to go. I’d love to see it. And, seriously, the books have such a great mystery vibe to them, it would be intriguing to see in on the screen. 🙂

  2. I didn’t know The Cruel Prince was optioned for a movie! Yes, I’d love to see that one too. And ugh, I would have loved more Zoya and Nikolai in the Shadow and Bone show, so sad to see it cancelled.
