Their union is his revenge.

Isolde de Lara considers her wedding day to be her death day. To end a years-long war, she is to marry vampire king Adrian Aleksandr Vasiliev, and kill him.

But her assassination attempt is thwarted, and Adrian threatens that if Isolde tries to kill him again, he will raise her as the undead. Faced with the possibility of becoming the thing she hates most, Isolde seeks other ways to defy him and survive the brutal vampire court.

Except it isn't the court she fears most—it's Adrian. Despite their undeniable chemistry, she wonders why the king—fierce, savage, merciless—chose her as consort.

The answer will shatter her world.

Okay, this is going to sound weird with my star rating, but I absolutely loved this book! Such a fun time, and the banter between Adrian and Isolde was everything!

So, why did I rate it 3.5 stars? Well…that’s due to the plot. The story itself just felt pretty basic. Of course, romance and fantasy books have their own set expectations (that’s why there are tropes). For the most part, there just wasn’t anything that interesting in this story that felt new or fresh. The vampires, the reincarnation, the MMC sacrificing himself for the woman he loves was all expected. The saving grace for the book was the characters.

I absolutely love Adrian and Isolde as a couple! To be honest, Adrian I could give or take, I didn’t care much for him. But Isolde! Ugh, ISOLDE, MY QUEEN! I love her independence and her back talk and her refusal to bow down to others. I was completely sold on my love of Isolde when she told the commander “did you expect complacency because we fucked?” Oooooo, I’m here for this!

I’m excited to read Queen of Myth and Monsters!
