TTT | Books by Indigenous Authors

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly topic hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week she provides a topic, and you are free to use that topic and/or variations of that topic to make your top ten list. A full list of the weekly themes can be found here. This Tuesday’s topic is a freebie on Thanksgiving or being Thankful. Instead I’m featuring books by Indigenous authors that I’ve either read or want to read.

Harvest House by Cynthia Leitich Smith

Black Sun by Rebecca Roanhorse

A Broken Blade by Melissa Blair

I Was a Teenage Slasher by Stephen Graham Jones

Sisters of the Lost Nation by Nick Medina

Never Whistle at Night edited by Shane Hawk & Theodore C. Van Alst Jr.

Indian Burial Ground by Nick Medina

The Truth According to Ember by Danica Nava

Wandering Stars by Tommy Orange

All I See is Violence by Angie Elita Newell

Have you read any of these books? What other books by Indigenous authors should I read?

I just finished There There by Tommy Orange. We always try to read a book to observe Native American Heritage Month in November. I want to read Wandering Stars, too.

  2. I haven’t read any of these yet. I do have Roanhorse’s Trail of Lightning on my TBR, as well as To Shape a Dragon’s Breath by Moniquill Blackgoose , Elatsoe by Darcy Little Badger, Firekeeper’s Daughter by Angeline Boulley, and Robin Wall Kimmerer’s Braiding Sweetgrass and The Serviceberry.
