TTT | Satisfying Book Series

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Okay, so I was curious if I’d have enough book series to fulfill this prompt. I definitely have more than I expected, but I’ve also included book series that I haven’t finished and hopefully will soon.

Finished Series

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder by Holly Jackson: I didn’t love everything that happened in the last book (the ending really), but in terms of the whole series, I was just loved how everything led back to the first book. It was really brilliant to see all the strings come together.

The Folk of the Air by Holly Black: Ugh! Everything about this series was everything! The ending was absolutely perfect, no notes!

The Last Binding by Freya Marske: I was so happy with how this series all came together in the end! I love all the books but Jack and Alan from A Power Unbound will be my favorite.

King of Scars by Leigh Bardugo: I read these a bit after finishing Crooked Kingdom and wasn’t expecting to actually love them more than the Crows, but here we are. Seeing the aftereffects of civil war was so well done, but also the characters themselves and the journey they went on to was masterful. I will never not love Zoya!

Chronicles of the Avatar by F.C. Yee: Really it’s the two Kyoshi books cause I haven’t yet read the others although they are on my TBR (as is every other book in existence). I grew up watching ATLA and then later on getting into ALOK, and loving both so much. To see the universe expand into these books was such a treat, but also, they were so well written and planned. My love for Kyoshi and Rangi, both as separate individuals and as a couple knows no bounds!

Unfinished Series

Dark Olympus by Katee Robert: To be honest, after reading Neon Gods, I wasn’t even sure I’d continue the series. It was a fun and sexy romp. But then I ran across the second one and decided what the hell. Then continued with the 3rd because I really liked the scenes with Helen in the 2nd. Now I’m here having read through Midnight Ruin. I’m waiting til all the books are out, then taking a book vacation to read the last 4 (?) books.

Belladonna by Adalyn Grace: I really wnat to re-read Belladonna before reading the rest of the series, mostly because I loved it so much! The relationship between Death and Signa is so well written (the scene with him throwing a scone at her and saying if she’s hungry she should eat is my Roman Empire).

Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir: I bought this book for the previous library I used to work at and wasn’t planning on reading it. It won rewards and the library was buying reward winning books. When it arrived, I saw the blurb at the moment from Charles Stross “Lesbian necromancers explore a haunted gothic palace in space.” Well, I proceed to set that to the side and read it before letting anyone else have a chance. It was amazing! The world building, the characters, everything. I was not expecting to have my heart ripped out at the end and am still recovering from the trauma.

The first book is a YA, murder mystery with a look into racism and how easy it is for group think to ruin a town. I loved it!

Right! I’m at the point where I’ll wait til the series is finished and then read them all back to back
