Late on Friday, March 14, \an executive order was issued in an attempt to dismantle the only federal agency dedicated to funding library services, the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS). Millions of people rely every day on library services and programs supported by IMLS. Right now, we need to help to urge the Congressional Appropriations Committees, which write government spending bills, to support library funding. You’ll have to check if your senators are on the Appropriations Committee here, and you can check if your House Representative is on that Appropriations Committee here. If your senator or representative is on the Appropriations Committee, then I highly encourage you to call and write to them urging them to include federal library funding in next year’s budget. If you’re senator or representative is NOT a member on the Appropriations Committee, there is still ways to show up to help support federal funding for libraries that you can find here. I know the world is a mess right now and this may seem low on the agenda to focus on, but the lack of access to information and knowledge is one of the first things done on the way to an authoritarian regime.
Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly topic hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl. Each week she provides a topic, and you are free to use that topic and/or variations of that topic to make your top ten list.
This week’s topic is books with honorifics in the title, which is “…a form of address conveying esteem, courtesy or respect. These can be titles prefixing a person’s name, e.g.: Mr., Mrs., Miss, Ms., Mx., Sir, Dame, Dr., Cllr, Lady, or Lord, or other titles or positions that can appear as a form of address without the person’s name, as in Mr. President, General, Captain, Father, Doctor, or Earl.”

Gabriela and His Grace by Liana de La Rosa
Mr. Penumbra’s 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan
The Last Mrs. Parrish by Liv Constantine
Lady Macbeth by Ava Reid
A Lady for a Duke by Alexis Hall

The League of Gentlewomen Witches by India Holton
Ten Ways to be Adored When Landing a Lord by Sarah MacLean
The Murder of Mr. Wickham by Claudia Gray
The Mystery of Mrs. Christie by Marie Benedict
The Lady’s Guide to Celestial Mechanics by Olivia Waite

The Lady’s Guide to Celestial Mechanics looks interesting.
Historical fiction, sapphic love story, and astronomy. It’s on my TBR, but as usual, other books keep getting in my way.
I read Mr. Penumbra’s earlier this year, but forgot to mention it on my list. Great hook but it didn’t quite deliver…
I’ll still read it but it’s something to keep in mind. Thanks!
We have Mr Wickham in common and I’ve seen Mr Penumbra on so many lists this week. I must check it out.
Yes, I have too! This may have to move up on my TBR, but there’s so many books out there 😅
OMG I never heard of any of these!
Lady Macbeth! I should have thought of that… 🙂
Thank you for this reminder about library funding. Just emailed me congresspeople. I haven’t heard of The Murder of Mr. Wickham, but am intrigued as I would be a suspect. Great list!
It’s definitely a fun read, and yes, I’d also be a suspect on that list!
I’ve read THE MYSTERY OF MRS. CHRISTIE, but that’s it from this list. Several of the others are on my TBR list. *Sigh* So many books, so little time…
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

I feel that! I’ve seen so many books this week that look fascinating but my TBR is already a mountain 😂
A Lady For a Duke has been on my list to read, but The League of Gentlewomen Witches and The Murder of Mr. Wickham sound like they could be interesting reads as well. There are a few other titles that sound interesting as well. I really like your list!
Haven’t read A Lady for a Duke but I have heard wonderful things about it! The Murder of Mr. Wickham is such a fun novel, and the series with Juliet and Jonathan gets better in each book. The League of Gentlewomen Witches is probably my favorite India Holton book (closely tied with The Geographer’s to Romance)!
Great list this week! I absolutely adored A Lady for a Duke, and I’m clearly going to have to add a few of these to my TBR.
I can’t wait to get to it, gosh, so many books and work keeps me away from them!
I hope you get the chance to read it soon!
